About Us

San Juan Singers gives singers aged 14+ the opportunity to learn and perform choral music. Our repertoire includes classical works, musical theater, gospel, jazz, contemporary, sacred and secular.  We present 2 concerts annually, a Winter concert in December, a Spring concert in April.  We are open to residents of all the San Juan Islands (however, rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 7-9pm, so commuting to-and-from another island is not always practical or possible!).

San Juan Singers was founded in 1980 by Elizabeth Burton who directed the Singers until 2000. Under her leadership the chorus became a  loved and valued part of San Juan Island’s music culture and of the San Juan Community Theatre, with which it is affiliated. Following  Ms. Burton’s retirement, RuthE. Wells directed the ensemble from 2000-Spring 2007.

Angel Michaels joined the ensemble for the Winter 2007 concert.  Ms. Michaels teaches voice throughout San Juan County, music courses at Skagit Valley College (San Juan Island campus), and leads two other vibrant choral organizations on SJI.

We welcome questions about what we do, and even more enthusiastically welcome folks who want to get involved!
